Welcome to the Calm Bounty. Here you will find Kingdom Hearts fanart; countless works-in-progress, doodles, scribbles, sketches, and, occasionally, something approaching a finished work. I draw other things, but they're not here. The content notice from the Entrance Hall applies somewhat. There is mild nudity, various ships, some innuendo and implications, sad stuff, and sexy outfits! Unless otherwise stated, the character is most aligned with whatever gender they were presented as having in canon. This applies regardless of the shape of their bodies, what genitalia they have, the presence of breasts, et cetera.
Please note that you need to click on an image in order to see the full version. This will open it in a new tab.
You can can also view my more sexual, kinky, violent, and/or 'dark' pieces over at the Guarded Trove, and my assorted dearly beloved scraps at the False Bounty.
All art pages were initially sorted by update, with the most recently updated images at the top. However, once an image has been uploaded, it will remain in whatever position it is currently in, regardless of whether or not it is updated. All images instead have titles in their descriptions to make them easier to search for. New images will follow this rule: initially added in order of their most recent update when compared to other images being uploaded alongside them, then remaining in place even if they are updated.
All that said, have fun looking, and if you're not please do remember that the back button is always there to guide you to other stars in the sky! (Heads up; there may be typos!)
Pence! And the other boys, all so adorable. I decided to give them raincoats based on their actual clothes in game, so we have a cute camo for Hayner and Dogstreet style for Pence. Tidus and Wakka’s draw inspiration predominately from their KH designs. I think them cheering Pence on is sweet. I don’t know what he did, but they love him for it!
A friend requested that Kairi's raincoat match Axel's, and I thought it was a super cute idea. I love having her hang out with Selphie, and including Olette seemed right. I think they were going to have unique flower designs reflecting their respective home worlds.
Axel's raincoat is based on this one. You may or may not recognize the adorable Xion, Naminé, and Roxas designs (I don't know if the artist would want their work linked here). Whatever the case, ahhh! They're so cute!
This is one I understand why I never finished, but also still love, love, love the idea. You can find a sketch version of this in the False Bounty with different rambling, but ahhh! I do need to revisit at least some of these concepts, even if I’m not sure I’ll come back to this particular piece. Riku + Dream Eater features... so wonderful!
I might be one of the few people who actually enjoy Ansem the Wise as a character, haha, so I thought I'd give him the twink experience. Something like what Eraqus and Xehanort got, at least. This guy is actually someone a little more complicated than just a young Ansem, but he also has a lot of similarities with him; who he was when he was younger, at least. He looks more smug than I intended. Ahhh... I'm sorry, Annie...
Riku and Repliku together… The feeling of this one is very good, I think. There’s a very tender soft of comfort, an intimacy I enjoy. They’ve both been through a lot, have both done ‘bad’ things, and are now struggling quietly through it together. Ah, my heart…
I’ll mention a HS AU multiple times on this page (and others). This is a little sample of Riku and Kairi wearing their uniforms and goofing off together. It’s set in Australia, in large part because I thought that would be a neat place for them to be, so their uniform is based on what’s common there. It’s styled for summer. I really like the closeness of Riku and Kairi here.
The pronoun is correct, Kairi's transmasculine in this one. I like to engage with the theming around his character in this way, occasionally. In general, I think Kairi is a more interesting character than given credit. Here he is pondering complicated feelings about gender and a destiny he is frequently thrust into, and if he is even 'allowed' to be his true self, or if that compromises his purpose. He finds value in his purpose because it is useful to the people, places, things he cares about. Not sure if I managed to convey that in this little sketch, but it was on my mind.
If you scroll down, you’ll find a better explanation for this picture. But anyway, this is a slightly tidier work-in-progress...that never progressed. I really like this design for Riku, though, and if I had continued, I think it would have looked amazing, but it still looks decent now.
This is based on an actual scene from my HS AU. I probably should have mentioned that it’s set in the 2000s (I mean, that’s probably mentioned somewhere else, but here it is again). There’s a lot of neat scenes of Roxas and Axel just hanging out; Axel’s lighter shows up a lot as a fidget-comfort toy (not a term they would use for it). Axel was held back a couple of years, so he and Roxas are in the same year. I think they’re cute here.
One day, I have got to write something from this AU. Anyway, Larxene! I love her very much; she’s quite terrible, but I end up caring a lot for terrible characters. She’s not doing so great in this universe, but then none of the characters are. There’s a doodle in the False Bounty that has another scene from this world. The lighting is interesting! And yes, she isn’t wearing a shirt.
Sorry, but you’ll have to scroll down just a little further to find that explanation. Here’s another color version, though, this one more ‘swatchy’. The colors I chose are pretty good, I think. I like the pink-purple with the green wraparound sunglasses-style visor. While the blue is just for coloring help, I think I would’ve had to make the background some kind of night scene.
Finally, you’ve scrolled far enough! Anyhow, here is the sketch-lineart of Riku wearing a sexier version of Reve’s outfit. Reve is from Phantasy Star 0, a DS game I played back in the day. I was suddenly struck by a vision of Riku in a (sexier, battier) version of it, and had to draw it. I also wanted to add a cool Keyglaive of sorts; Braveheart frustrated me with how dull its design felt, so I went a little over the top with symbols and imagery for it. I actually like it, though!
I still need to finish playing American McGee’s Alice and its sequel, but here’s a Riku I drew in the style of the former’s cover/key art. It just felt right, I guess. There’s an edge to the games that feels appropriate for his character (I say this fondly; I think I like edge more than a lot of people, albeit I know some people might dislike the use of the word to describe those games). I hope you like this look for him!
This is Arancia in a sunhat! They’re a friend’s FFXIV character, and I have a fondness for their design. They were kind enough to provide a variety of lovely pictures of them wearing some beautiful spring-summer clothes from the game, so I decided to draw a few pictures in return. The goblin character hugging their legs is Orangeflox (otherwise known as...me).
This version of Arancia has a pretty floral headpiece. The actual screenshots I was sent were in full color, and they really were very pretty. Lots of warm browns, oranges, some pinks. The dress was a lovely white with orange accents. There’s a touch of green. Ah!
And finally, this is Arancia without any accessories, just their lovely self. Orangeflox probably looks cutest in this image, heh. In general, I’m quite proud of these sketches of Arancia. I think they’re very pretty, overall. I hope you get some joy out of them too, especially if you like that spring-summer feeling!
I don’t play FFXIV, but I did create myself a goblin character just so I could amusingly self-insert into some art I drew of a friend’s character. He’s obviously based on my replicanon avatar—examples of which can be found in the False Bounty—who in turn is based on Repliku/Riku. The oranges are for Arancia, hehe. He wears a mask most of the time, but here I drew him without one.
Repliku and Eeyore is perhaps an unlikely ship, but I think they’d be able to connect with each other. Someone who doesn’t expect Repliku to be happy after everything that’s happened to him, someone who can hold that sadness. This is another one of my favorite drawings, you know. I love the colors, and the way Repliku holds on tight to Eeyore.
The title for this piece comes from this fic. The anonymous individual who made the request… I’m sure you can guess who it was. It’s a lovely fic, by the way. Please give it a read. You can see where some of the imagery of my picture is drawn from.
I like Ansem the Wise and wanted to just doodle a picture of him. I decided to make him black since I thought that would be neat. I should draw more of him, both like this and with his canonical look. I feel the games sort of let him down a little; his backstory is a bit all over the place. But what’s there seemed very interesting to me.
Naminé and Sora have an interesting and intensely complicated relationship, in my opinion. Naminé in general is one of my favorite characters from the series; both to explore, and just in general. I like the imagery of her holding him like a bouquet of flowers or a bundle of herbs, as well as the subtle intrusion of the flower; a memory of Kairi, or the intrusion of Marluxia?
As mentioned in the hover text, this isn’t really ship art. I just wanted to explore the feeling of two characters who are treated as tools, and how Naminé’s powers put her just slightly above Repliku in the hierarchy of Castle Oblivion. Their relationship is really complicated, so it’s something I like to explore.
Ohhh… He’s so cute! I think the canonical dark mode outfit is a really great and interesting design; iconic, even! And I thought it would be fun to create a cutesy, sexy goth version of the look. He’s got some nice makeup on too. I think this was meant to be Riku, but it can also be Repliku; goth twins!
I messed up the nose real bad, but otherwise I think this random painting of Axel turned out pretty well for the time I drew it. The green background helps make him pop; a good choice, past me! He’s a really pretty guy, in his own way. I sort of miss his mega levels of popularity from the 2000s, hehe.
So, here’s Yozora as a Nightmare and Riku as a Spirit. Both have bat-like elements in their design, since they’re intended to be a pair. Putting them in the differing colors was fun; Spirit Dream Eaters are so bright compared to their Nightmare counterparts! But they’re so cute!
Riku and Ansem have such a tricky relationship, but sometimes it’s fun to just draw something tender, even if there’s a potential danger behind it. I don’t often do mer-type au concepts, but I did feel that in the original KH there were similar feelings between Ariel and Riku, and their journeys. I like that Ariel isn’t a Princess of Heart; she has a Riku-type ‘impurity’. Ansem makes such a beautiful sea witch; I love Ursula, of course, but seeing Riku and Ansem entangled here… Hmmm, lovely.
A mostly symbolic concept for Repliku’s life and fate. Despite being somewhat controlled for all his existence, I feel like his ‘ending’ became ordained with the breaking and remaking of his mind; here, that’s referenced by the noose made out of Naminé’s star charm. The wooden sword, the mirror with the original Riku’s colors, the shattering background, ahhh… My unlucky boy.
Riku!Appletun, yay! He’s quite a sweet fellow. I doodled him because a friend really enjoyed Appletun the Pokémon and I thought combining them with Riku would be neat. I really like the way I colored this; I think his pastry has a lovely glaze. He’s adorable, toddling along. The Apple of my Pie, indeed.
Even without the colors, the sketch is pretty cute too, right? I also kind of like how his smiling mouth is a little open in this one. It ended up closed in the final piece, but it feels like he’s making cute noises in this one. All his lovely roundness is intact too. So fun!
I should clarify that I don’t have any particular theories about Yozora and Riku. I just wanted to make them Dream Eaters so I could draw a fun design and have lots of great thoughts about them. Anyhow, this was the planning phase for the colors. You can see the sketch more clearly too!
This is the sketch that became the Dream Eater painting above. Funnily enough, they were just their usual selves initially. I can’t remember if I had planned to make them Dream Eaters all along, or if I had just wanted to draw them together and it escalated. Whatever the case was, I think they look nice here.
This will probably not surprise you, but I’m not actually very good at designing characters or outfits, haha. Still, I wanted to try making a proper Halloween Town look for Riku, leaning more toward his original KH design. I’m not sure why I gave him the tail, as I was trying to avoid the common wolf designs and go with something more bat-like. The blindfold-in-progress is fun; there can be a little of KHII in there!
This was part of a crack concept in which Kairi was convincing Sora to eat (non-salad) leaves, and Riku wanted to prove he was cool and ate them too. He has to prove he can eat the most random leaves. Or something like that. Enjoy your chibi and remember to appreciate crack.
The idea is that the characters all have doll forms, and the doll-type represents the world they come from. My love the homemade, stitched quality of the Destiny Island-type dolls, and think Larxene pulls off the creepy porcelain doll look rather well. Axel is a BJD, and Kairi is a mixture to represent that she has a home in two worlds!
This one is interesting, in that it started of as a random doodle of Kairi and Selphie just hanging out in casual-formal (heh) outfits, only to rapidly escalate. So while the Dark Road girls are absent, the rest of the original and Squeenix casts are present, as well as a few Disney representatives. Coming up with the outfits was interesting, since I wanted to eschew more traditional party clothes and go for something more relaxed and personalized.
Riku’s Fantasia world in KH3D is one of the absolute prettiest in the series so far, especially the night time sequence. However, it also made me think of how lovely it would have been if Riku had, well, a fairy-like outfit change. But the fairies are a bit naked (which, while still awesome for Riku, probably would have had an effect on the game’s rating). As such, I depicted him here in as a ballet dancer with a snowy backdrop. I also think Sora in a one-shouldered chiton would have been cool!
Riku!Ansem is here to smile at you in a very exciting way! I love this expression; it’s based partially on the way he smiles when he’s about to clobber Sora over the head. I love his voice as Riku!Ansem, by the by. So very good. Anyhow, I wanted to capture a mean-spirited playfulness and I think I managed to do just that!
Only bad witches are hotties, or whatever the quote is. Anyhow, I had an AU which drew some ideas from the Wizard of Oz. Riku ended up being a ‘Wicked Witch’. There’s emotions and interesting thought processes behind that decision, but in the end, it’s also because he looks cute like this.
This was where the Wizard of Oz concept started, I think. With Axel, Roxas, and Xion as Nobodies—or tinmen, rather. The struggle for their absent hearts is contrasted with the friendly quality of the image, the lovely sunset, their closeness and expressions. I really emphasized the size difference, huh? But that’s fine. They look quite endearing! The tin-ice creams… those might be vegan...
She feels a little stiff, but otherwise I’ve come around to liking this little doodle of Selphie I did. She’s one of my favorites, you know? Despite not appearing much in KH. I enjoy her in FFVIII too. I think the ambience and lighting in this one is good; not super detailed, but gives a sunset impression, with the shadows in front. A little unsettling, a little summer-sultry, which is how I wanted it.
I’m not super into the Disney Park date concept, but I’ll make an exception for this trio because it feels appropriate. Riku with little Rickey and the happiest Mickey ever. It’s just a very simple doodle, but that's okay. It spreads the Mickey/Riku love, after all.
Inspired by those various stories and images of cartoonists with (often their own) cartoons ‘come to life’ around them, I had an AU dedicated to a depressed, traumatized cartoonist!Riku and his beloved creations. There’s a special emphasis on his relationship with Sora, but all the cast are there. There’s a lot of sexual and horror elements, but it’s also goofy, lovey-dovey fun. The ending is a bit different from a lot of stories of the type (eventually, Riku becomes a cartoon and flees the real world. I still like the idea, haha).
Oh, Repliku. I believe all existence is quite sad, but in terms of fictional portrayals, I think yours is quite depressing. I wanted to draw the moment of realisation; I’ll draw it again and again and again in other forms, of course. But I’m quite fond of this one. It does hurt, doesn’t it? The things that were done to you. The thing that you are.
Evidently, I could not decide if I preferred the bright colors or their more subdued counterparts, so you get both. I think they do shift the mood a little, but both work overall. Fun fact, but although I’m almost positive this is Repliku, the blindfold symbolism made me hesitate a little when revisiting this piece to make a comment.
I just wanted something tender between Naminé and Kairi, so this came about. Once upon a time, I think there was going to be a companion piece from Naminé’s point of view, but I’m happy with just this one. There’s an intimacy. Naminé doesn’t feel the need to emotionally perform here.
There’s a bunch of fairytale au concepts sitting in various documents on my computer, and one of them is a Sleeping Beauty smut fic with an unlucky Terra at the center of it. I think I did a good job with fitting him in that gothic princess dress, and I love is little braids. I wonder why he’s holding his stomach like this? Hmmm…
I made a bright version because I like the background and foreground details! The curtains, the textures on the green stone archways, and the roses are all quite lovely. Also, one cannot complain about more imperiled Terra! Or one can, but I don’t know why that one would be on my website, considering putting characters in peril is one of my favorite things to do!
I was never satisfied with the color and lineart for this, but here it is nonetheless! If you’ve read my fic ‘If His Heart Should E’er Fly Free’ which can be found on the AO3, Dreamwidth, and right here on this website, then you might recognize Donkey!Riku. So very adorable, and also a great excuse to explore his journey through Prankster’s Paradise shenanigans.
This one is part of a series I never finished. I want to draw KHII!Sora, Kairi, and Riku and their perspectives of each other. This was inspired by the scene in KHII in which Sora dances with younger Kairi in his imagination in Halloween Town. I like the sunset colors, and think I captured the fun, sweet feeling I was going for as Sora imagines his friends.
On other thing I haven’t touched upon with discussing my ‘toon au’ is the fact that I think Timeless River is a really cool world. The design for Sora is particularly great, and that definitely had a part to play in my engaging with the concept. I think my Axel here is alright, and the Vanitas is fun in his own way. I like to pretend my notes are Riku’s notes…
I had a period where I watched a lot of old Betty Boop cartoons, among other things. A friend was also watching them and making occasional commentary. I appreciate that time. It increased my love of the 'toon' style. I was also really feeling like AkuRokuSoRiku, so this got made. I think they're cute together.
Looking back (and to the now) there’s a lot of cool ideas here. Some of them are reflected in the fics I write, and others are just enjoyed in visual and imagined forms. While my current focus is my writing, I would like to get back into the habit of drawing digitally. Maybe in the future, I shall have more pieces to offer that feel appropriate for this first collection of my art. There’s two more, ah!
If you happened to spot any typos that weren’t just me being very creative with punctuation, please feel free to let me know via the Castle Oblivion Lounge or Letterbox links. That’s obviously not required, but it is an option. You can also just send me your thoughts on a particular piece, if you want. If you don’t want to, that’s fine too!
